Jim Kind of Kindscapes wins WMMR Contest



Exciting News! On October 19, 2009, Preston & Steve (of 93.3 WMMR) held a contest with Comedian Todd Glass, offering tickets to see Todd opening for David Cross at the Merriam Theater and immediately after the show head over to The Wachovia Spectrum to see Bruce Springsteen perform live! Todd was visiting his mom (who lives in Pottstown) while in town and wanted to do something nice for her birthday so offered some extra tickets he had to anyone in WMMR's audience that could do some light landscape work at his mom's house. Jim Kind of Kindscapes was selected by Todd and won the tickets! The only catch was Todd wanted the landscaping to be completed either Thursday or Friday of that week.

Jim's response? -- "Oh yeah, definitely!"


Meeting Todd Glass & David Cross
Jim and his wife Judi were picked up in a limo and taken to Todd's show. They hung out with Todd for a bit after the show before being driven to the Bruce Springsteen concert. Todd was an awesome guy to meet in person and a very funny comedian. Jim and Judi also met David Cross, the comedian Todd had opened for who appears in the 2nd photo below.

 


Bruce Springsteen Concert
A great surprise to Jim & Judi was the Bruce Springsteen tickets were in the front row! Absolutely awesome tickets! Bruce's mom and aunt were actually in the same row a few seats down! Jim and Judi enjoyed the concert and snapped some pictures of Bruce performing.

 


Letter received from a Kindscapes customer
A Kindscapes customer heard Jim on the radio and immediately wrote a letter to congratulate Jim!

Hello there, Jim.
So I'm heading to an eye doctor appt this morning @ 8:30 and as usual listening to P&S on MMR and they start talking about the the contest that was going on about finding a landscaper to do Todd's mom's yard in exchange for Springsteen tx. I'm like, oh yeah, I remember hearing about that the other day.

They then proceed to say that the winner - Jim Kind, of Kindscapes Landscaping - went to the show last night and emailed P&S that the seats were in the first row next to Bruce's mom! Preston & Steve's gang were blown away that the tickets were that good.

Then about an hour later, as I'm leaving my eye appt and have MMR back on, the subject comes up again and The Show is talking about it and Todd is on the phone talking about it and what do you know......Jim Kind is on the phone too!

It was so exciting for me to be listening to this in my car and know who they're talking about. This might sound weird, but I couldn't help but feel "proud" that I know you, especially with the wonderfully remarkable things that were being said about you. It was such a testament to you when Todd said, 'you know, you always hope you're picking the right person and in this case, I couldn't have pick better'. Wow! What a compliment!!

So I just wanted to let you know that I heard about the great time you and your wife had last night and was so happy to hear ALL the 'nice' things that were being said about you both on the radio this morning.

No other landscaper deserves it more!!

Landscaping Work
Jim put in 160 Tulip and Daffodil bulbs and some perennials (Astilbe) and moved around some day lilies which won't be seen until next year. He also helped with some holiday decorations...mums, hay bales and decorative corn. Jim pruned all the shrubs and Todd helped with the pruning of the Birch trees. Since Jim had a ladder with him, Todd also had Jim change two light bulbs on the rear deck.
